" THIRD WEEK
REFLECTION "
“Tell
me, and I will forget. Show me, and I may remember. Involve me, and I will
understand”
The week has gone and we started with week 3.
First of all when I entered to class I was feeling very happy and my feelings
were like the colors of rainbows. When the lecturer came into the class we all
as students welcomed her with a very a smiley face. Then the lecturer started
to say good morning and asked about our previous lesson. There were some
students who did not fully understand the previous lesson so, therefore the
lecturer started to repeat the previous lesson again for those who were not
fully understood. After finishing Q&A (Question/Answer) session we started
with our new lesson week 3vfirst session. In week 3 we studied Search Tools and
their types. First of the entire lecturer described that what Search Tools is
all about. Furthermore, we learned about Online Library Catalog. We learned
that Online Library Catalog (OPAC) is to provides information and directions on
how we can find out what books, audiovisuals, and periodicals.
Moreover, we learned that why do we need to
know OPAC because, by understanding
Online Catalog (OPAC) will allow us to do a better job of locating book and
other materials available through our libraries as well as other libraries.
Furthermore, we learned that the online library catalog contains a record for
each book, audiovisual and periodical in our collection. After that, we studied
General search and Simple search. General search is the library page, go to the
SEARCH CATALOG tab and then click SEARCH, and this will take you to the main
screen f the library catalog. Simple search is to begin search, click on the
SEARCH button, found on the main page, or the FLASHLIGHT, found on the other
pages. Next, we had some class activities to find the difference between a
General Search and Simple Search the activity was interesting and we were
interested with doing it.
Last
but not least, we continued with week 3 session2 . In second session we studied
Search Internet Tools the lecturer taught us that what Search Internet Tools is
all about. The aim of this Search tools are to explore the strengths and
weaknesses of different search tools, to Evaluate the information that search
tools provide is on how to efficiently cream off the most relevant results and
to develop a strategy for building up your own well structured bank of links
for future references. Search tools are Search Engines, Meta Search Engines, Subject
Directories, Information Gateways and Special Databases.
In conclusion I can that these all lessons
which I have studied during week 3 were very useful and important. Week 3 was a
very wonderful and an interesting week for me because; I have learned so many
new things which I haven’t known before. The best thing that I really like was
an activity related to our lesson the aim of this activity was that how to
apply my thoughts and ideas into my daily life it was a kind of assessment.
Sincerely,
Said Abid s/o Said
Tahir.
